Meet the San Antonio Team Behind Seedling ADU San Antonio
We’re a San Antonio crew that has framed walls in July heat and poured footings in February mud, and we’re still glad to show up every morning. What unites us is simpler than a mission statement: we like building small homes that let a family stay together on one lot. Some of us came from big residential construction, others from cabinet shops and concrete crews. Everyone here can tell you exactly what a written price means, because every one of us has had to explain it to a homeowner across a kitchen table. We answer to one name in this city, and that name is on every truck door.

Ben Ortega, Owner
Ben started Seedling ADU San Antonio after years of watching homeowners get quoted one number and billed another. That bothered him more than anything else in the trades. He built the company’s pricing process first, before he even hired a crew, because he wanted the paperwork to be as solid as the framing. Ben still walks every San Antonio job before the estimate goes out. He’s the one who notices that the sewer cleanout sits six inches from where the ADU slab wants to go, or that the existing garage slab has a crack that changes the conversion approach. He speaks the unhurried way people in this trade speak when they’ve been wrong before and don’t want to be wrong again. When he’s not on a job site, he’s usually checking in with the city on permit status or going over material lead times with the brands we install.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been leading ADU and garage conversion builds in San Antonio for over a decade, and he can tell you which neighborhoods have expansive clay that moves more than the soil maps admit. He holds certifications in general construction and keeps his continuing education current on Texas energy code updates. Marcus is the person who walks the lot with the homeowner and points out exactly where the new foundation will sit, where the utilities will tie in, and where the afternoon sun will hit the windows. He’s also the reason our tool trailers are cleaner than most kitchens he visits. His dry note about San Antonio summers: concrete sets fast in August, but so does a good crew if you keep water on site.
Elena R., Senior Installer
Elena came to us from a framing background and has spent the last several years specializing in prefab and modular ADU installations. She knows the Abodu and Cover panel systems well enough to catch a factory tolerance issue before it becomes a field problem, and she’s the one teaching our apprentices how to read modular set plans without assuming anything. Elena handles the interior finish work on most of our projects too, which means she’s the person making sure your drywall seams disappear and your doors close without a fight. She keeps a small notebook in her back pocket where she records every change a homeowner asks about during a walkthrough, then checks it against the written agreement. If it’s not in writing, it doesn’t get built, and she’ll tell you that with a straight face.
Daniel S., Service Coordinator and Apprentice
Daniel is the voice you’ll hear most often when you call Seedling ADU San Antonio. He schedules estimates, tracks permit submittals, and coordinates material deliveries so no one is standing around a lot waiting on a window package. Daniel is also working through his installer training, which means the person answering your questions about the schedule has actually spent days on site setting panels and pulling measurements. He grew up in San Antonio and knows the difference between a morning drive down 1604 and one down 410, which matters when we’re routing crews. Outside of work he coaches youth soccer, and he uses the same patient tone with our scheduling calendar that he uses with a pack of nine-year-olds who forgot which goal is theirs.
