Dvele New Detached ADU: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If you own a Dvele new detached ADU in San Antonio, the parts that most often need replacement are the ERV filters, the Mitsubishi mini-split air handler, the smart home hub, and the exterior cladding fasteners. A full replacement service call typically runs $175 to $480 installed, depending on which component has failed and how accessible it is on your lot. Most parts we carry on the truck, and the ones we don’t ship to our San Antonio shop within two to three business days.

Here’s the pattern we see across San Antonio and the Hill Country. The ADU was built in California, delivered to your lot, and it’s running fine for the first year or two. Then one morning the ERV panel throws a code, or the mini-split starts short-cycling in August, or a smart sensor stops reporting to the app. You call us because the original installer is in another state, and the local HVAC guy doesn’t know the Dvele system well enough to diagnose it without guessing. That’s the moment this page exists for.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

We service and stock replacement parts for the Dvele IQ series, the Dvele Origin line, and the Dvele Signature collection. This includes the one-bedroom and two-bedroom detached models that Dvele ships to Texas, plus the newer Dvele Vault models that started showing up around San Antonio in the last two years.
The compatibility gotcha most owners don’t know about: Dvele changed their ERV control boards in 2022, and the newer boards do not talk to the older wall panels. If you have a 2021 Origin with a dead ERV controller, you can’t just buy the newer board. You need either the older revision or a matching panel upgrade. We check the model number on the sticker inside the utility closet door before we order anything, because getting this wrong means a second trip and another week without ventilation.
OEM Dvele parts are tighter-tolerance and carry the factory warranty, but some components, like the ERV filters and the mini-split contactors, have excellent aftermarket equivalents that outperform the originals at half the price. We stock both, and we’ll tell you plainly which one makes sense for your situation. We are an independent service provider in San Antonio, not affiliated with Dvele directly, but we have worked on enough of their units to know what fails and what just needs cleaning.
Signs Your Dvele New Detached ADU Is Failing
- ERV panel throwing a “filter” or “comm” error. Dvele ERVs have pressure sensors that trip when the filter loads up with dust, which happens faster in San Antonio because of cedar pollen in winter and construction dust year-round. If the error keeps returning after a filter swap, the sensor itself has failed and needs replacement.
- Mini-split running but not cooling. This is almost always a failed contactor or a low refrigerant charge from a pinhole leak at a flare fitting. Dvele’s factory flare connections on early Texas deliveries were not always reamed and torqued perfectly after cross-country transit, and we see leaks on the liquid line at the outdoor unit.
- Smart hub dropping offline every few days. The hub’s Wi-Fi antenna is mounted behind the metal electrical panel in the utility closet, which kills signal strength. If it started dropping after a firmware update, the hub likely needs a hard reset and possibly a replacement antenna module.
- Water staining along the bottom plate of an exterior wall. Dvele’s cladding uses a rainscreen system, but the Z-flashing at the base of the wall can get bent during transport and re-installation on San Antonio slabs. A bent flashing wicks water inside, and the fix is a new flashing strip plus re-seating the bottom cladding course.
- Banging or rattling from the mini-split compressor at night. The compressor isolation pads Dvele uses are dense rubber, but our clay soil shifts seasonally and the concrete pad can settle unevenly. The unit itself is usually fine; the pad needs re-leveling and new vibration isolators.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Dvele new detached ADU in San Antonio, here is what we charge, installed, as of this year:
- ERV filter set (2-pack): $45 to $75, installed in about 20 minutes.
- ERV control board replacement: $240 to $380, depending on revision and whether we need to match the wall panel.
- Mini-split contactor or capacitor: $120 to $190, parts and labor.
- Refrigerant top-up and leak repair at flare fitting: $220 to $410, depending on charge amount and access.
- Smart hub antenna or replacement hub: $90 to $310, depending on whether the hub itself is dead or just the antenna.
- Exterior Z-flashing replacement and cladding re-seat: $180 to $340 for a typical single-wall section.
Every price above includes the part, the labor, and our written warranty on the work. You get the exact number before we order anything, and it does not change unless we find something genuinely unsafe once we open the panel. Ben Ortega reviews every estimate before it goes to a customer, because he would rather answer questions up front than explain a surprise later. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every repair on this page: if it is not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things an owner can safely do without tools: check the ERV filter for visible dust and debris, and power-cycle the smart hub by unplugging it for 30 seconds. That fixes maybe a third of the “my ADU is acting up” calls we get, and it costs you nothing.
Everything else on this list is not a DIY job. The mini-split contains refrigerant under pressure, and the electrical panel in a Dvele ADU is not something to open without training. The ERV board, the contactor, the flashing repair, the refrigerant work – these all need a licensed, insured technician who knows this exact system. We are background-checked and uniformed, we put down drop cloths inside your ADU, and we send you a photo of the clean-up before we leave, because that is the Cedarwell Care Promise and we do not skip it. Call (210) 981-6358 if you are not sure whether your issue is a simple reset or a real repair, and we will walk you through the safe checks over the phone.
FAQs

Plan on every 4 to 6 months, not the 6 to 8 months Dvele quotes for milder climates. San Antonio has heavy cedar pollen from December through February and constant dust from our limestone soil, and both clog the filter media faster than the factory estimate. Call (210) 981-6358 and we can drop off a filter set while we are in your neighborhood.
Sometimes, but usually not cost-effectively. A mini-split contactor can sometimes be cleaned and re-used, and a smart hub can often be fixed with a firmware reset. But ERV boards and refrigerant leaks do not repair well, and the honest answer is that replacement costs less than a repair attempt that fails in a month. Call us and we will tell you which category your part falls into before you spend anything.
Most single-part replacements on a Dvele ADU take between one and three hours on site, assuming we diagnosed the issue correctly from your description and photo. ERV filters and hub resets are under 30 minutes. If we have to order a specific board revision, you are looking at two to three business days for shipping to San Antonio, then the install itself.
We stock the high-failure items on the truck: ERV filters, mini-split contactors and capacitors, vibration isolators, and Z-flashing in standard Dvele lengths. Odd-revision control boards and full hubs we order the same day we diagnose, and they arrive at our San Antonio shop within a few business days. We also keep parts on hand for Abodu and Cover models, because many San Antonio owners have those on the same property.
